The staff were really friendly and accommodating, allowing us to check out late for a funeral. The comfortable bed and tea/coffee facilities were a plus.
The room and bathroom had some issues, such as a moldy stain on the carpet and a black, moldy showerhead. The double glazing was faulty and difficult to open.

At the online price of £25 for a double room (normal price is around £40) I was worried that it might be a hovel. Some Booked.net reviews I subsequently read made me even more worried. However my fears were groundless. Ok the decor and furniture is dated and it's by no means anything other than a budget hotel, but my room was large, clean, warm, comfortable and quiet. Believe me I've stayed in places at £100 per night and more where I've wanted to walk out after one night. This place was relaxing. Ok I had a room facing the car park at the back rather than the main road, but in any case it's well set back from the road at the front and the double glazing is excellent. There's no restaurant in the evenings but it's next door to a large pub which is part of the group and on a main road full of restaurants and takeaways. It's about 2 miles into Darlington town centre so a car or get a cab is necessary (or a bus - it's on the main road into Darlington). I'd recommend it as a budget alternative in an area where hotel prices are still not as competitive as they should be.

The rooms were clean and modern, with great showers and nice bathrooms. the front desk staff, especially James, were extremely helpful and friendly, always going above and beyond. the lodge is reasonably priced and has all the amenities one could ask for. Conveniently located near the motorway and a pub that serves meals. Free wifi and ample parking.
Felt cozy, no complaints.

Pub with great grub next door. A fiver cheaper than Premier Inn and continental breakfast included.
Level of maitenance very low and a bit shabby around the edges. Tea spoon dirty, broken items: hair dryer, toilet roll holder, bedside light (all easy to maintain).

Sparse breakfast choice was a bit of a let down apart from that it was good value for money as a overnight stay

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making our stay enjoyable. the bed was very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. the convenience of having a pub next door that served food was a bonus, providing us with a convenient dining option.
The hotel was in need of modernizing, with a tired and dated appearance. the lift was out of action during our stay, which was inconvenient as our room was on the third floor.

I recently stayed at HHL for a weekend getaway. The location was ideal, near the station, and the room was comfortable with facilities for making hot drinks. The staff, especially Gary at the reception, were very helpful and had great local knowledge. We found a variety of shops within walking distance and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The housekeeping staff even checked if we needed any additional supplies during our stay.
Would recommend this hotel.

I recently stayed at a hotel in Darlington for a short getaway and had a fantastic experience. The staff at Harrowgate Hill Lodge were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure that I had everything I needed. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a beautifully designed walk-in shower. The beds provided a great night's sleep, and I especially appreciated the option to request a room with a walk-in shower. The location of the hotel was also convenient, with easy access to the center of town. I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Darlington.
